Hard Core Head
Gear © 2006 |
|
Hardcore Headgear (c) for the tribal BADASS! This
design was inspired by the tribal girls in the Bellydance Superstars
shows. I always admired how much "stuff" they had on their
heads and was determined to find an easy way to add in head gear
without putting nine zillion things in, one at a time, only to later
tear it out in a tangled mess at the end of the show! Alas, I designed
the Hardcore Headgear which is modeled by some of NATIUM World Dance.

I begin the base using a band of tribal fabric (colors & designs
vary). Trims may have sequins, embroidery, sheesha mirrors, or any
other sort of tribalesque look. The base measures about 3 inches
wide. Then I attach the shelled discs at the sides and add on tribal
coins and doo-dads to adorn the headgear. The entire piece is about
13 inches from end to end and it is best worn with high-piled hair,
piled towards the back-top of your head, and then easily sliding
the clips into your hair (the clips are hidden from view and are
attached to the headgear). These are meant to be worn above the
ears, not over them (that would be silly and would look like some
odd tribal earmuffs!). These are easy to wear, a quick way to look
like you spent a lot of time, and oh so tribal!

Cowrie Shell Hair Tassels |
|
|

Abby of Ban-Dal dancing with candles and cowries 2005
I design these handmade cowry shell hair or costume tassels
in varying lengths for you to choose from. Smaller lengths are great for
adding to belts (just snip off the hair elastic) or to the sides of your
turban (easy to do with a safety pin). Medium lengths are excellent to
add to hang from your hair (use the hair elastics already attached) for
that sex-ay look like a certain famous "superstar" wears. Long
and super-duper lengths are for the ultimate tribal diva who just has
to wear more trinkets than everyone else. The color schemes I use are
usually bold, rich and vibrant, leaning towards darker hues. If you have
specific color needs, you'll need to email me first to see if I have anything
like that in stock (sorry, no custom orders at this time). The cowry shells
are off-white, and sometimes accent colors, bells, glass beads, metal
hair crimps, coins, or other trinkets are added to tribal up the look.
Simply choose the length you'd like and be happily surprised by the lush
color combo you get when they arrive! Or shoot
me an email to see what I have in stock.

I always have the most fabulous, hand picked selection of Bindi on
hand because I personally, am addicted to these things! (I tell ya,
it’s gypsy crack). You can choose from an assorted color pack
or choose all black, silver, or gold packets. If you are choosing
one specific color, or a specific assortment, email me first as these
come all the way from India and I sometimes run out before my next
batch arrives. These are adhesive backed, but you can reuse them with
a dab of eyelash glue from a drugstore.
