Patio Garden
Having a patio garden is becoming increasingly popular as people in big cities decide that they want to grow their own plants. These plants are commonly herbs, vegetables, and flowers. As people try to go green, and try to move toward eating more organic foods, growing their plants in a kind of mini-garden seems like a great idea.
It is a very achievable venture too! The number of suitable pots and containers on the market is huge, and there are many plants that will do well in a pot. Clay or terra cotta pots are often considered best for growing plants because they will lose any excess water, but as long as you are careful to not over-water just about any kind of pot will do. Clay pots may be best if you are growing edible plants in your patio garden because they don’t have harmful chemicals in them.
There are a few tricks you can use to improve the success of your potted plants. This includes putting a thin layer of rocks in the bottom of pots to keep the drainage holes clear of potting soil. You also need to know if certain plants will need to be wintered inside. There are some special needs that patio gardens have, but they are well worth it!
